Questions on Ecot for people who have done or are currently doing ECOT.?

I was thinking about doing ecot starting my second semester of this year for my junior year or just my senor year especially with being pregnant because i thought it would be easier with having the baby. I was just wondering if someone could explain how classes go..How long you go…for how many days…and what about the holidays and summer vacation as well…I was just wondering about all that stuff and about your experience with ecot and whether or not you liked it. You can tell me on here or if you have a longer response which is appreciated…you can also email me at [email protected] or [email protected]. Thanks for anything you can say or any responses given.

ECOT is a public school so there is no fee other than for things like paper, pencils, printer ink, etc. ECOT will provide you with a computer and the teachers.

The school year starts the end of August and continues until the first of June. You get to work on the computer. You must log in 5 out of the 7 days each week and complete lessons. You will get 1-2 weeks off at Christmas, a week for spring break (around Easter), and all federal holidays. For a new mother, you may find it easier since you can work when the baby is asleep. You can also work late at night. The biggest problem may be that you have to work. You can’t put off assignments, you must keep up to date or it will be hard to get done on time.

Well, the Ecot lesson shedule is basically the same as the actual public school building (as in semesters, quarters and such). You start summer vacation in mid or late June and it goes to early september. You get a winter break (a week, I think. Maybe a week and a half) and other holidays you get the day off. You have to log in every 5 days or you become truent.

Don’t hold me to what I said about the schedule. It’s been awhile since I was a student there. But It’s close to that.

I was with Ecot for a year and a half. I liked it at first, but I wanted to work through the summer so I could graduate a bit early. It is really hard to work ahead very far in Ecot. Even if you get your lessons done early, the teacher might not post the next one until a few days before it’s due. They also seemed to have a lot of maintenence and downtime. That made it hard to get work done on time. Ecot requires a lot of your time and more self-motivation.

I graduated through American School Of Correspondence. The work they give is easier to do because it is on paper. I also liked it because you have all the material and lessons at hand. you just have to do them. There aren’t any deadlines either. And you do exams all through the course, so state tests aren’t required. I’ve also heard good things about Penn Foster and K-12.

I don’t know if you have to pay for the K12 tuition.

American School is $50 a month until you graduate. That includes envolopes, books, and handbooks. Yu do have to buy supplies like pens, notebooks and stamps. I’m not sure but i think Penn Foster is $900 all together, probably paid in installments.

Good luck with finding what you want to do.

Congratulations on your baby 🙂
