because we do: just kidding–we know when you are up to something–one of my favorite stories is that my daughter was playing with my hair and I could feel her moving the hair on the back of my head. I asked her what she was doing and she replied”looking for the eyes!”

I think moms only say that when little kids get caught doing something behind their mother’s back; and ask their mom “how did you know?”

Also- learn to use quotation marks in your question, to distinguish the parts of your sentence that are being spoken by each speaker. In your question, it appears that moms are accusing you of having eyes in the back of your head. I don’t think that’s what you meant. And yes, it is really weird.

Down here they say “eyes in the back of my head”. Mums say it because they mean they know when their kids are up to no good even when they can’t actually see you!

Either that or they talk about needing to have eyes in the back of their heads when, for instance, they’ve got a toddler who needs watching all the time.

Simply put, we were once your age, and trust me we have not forgotten, that’s why we often know what your up to, or about to go and do.

Children, and young people give these little clues, and they do not even know they are doing so, but that works in our favor.

My mom used to tell us, besides the eyes in the back of her head, her x-ray vision could see through walls as well.

Haha…my mom used to say that! It means that they can see what ur doing even when they’re not there.

When I was little I was jumping on a bed one time, and my mom had her back turned and she said stop doing that and I said how did you know i was doing that and she said cuz i have eyes on the back of my head

We learn to hear everything, and be completely aware.

This refers to our sixth sense, which relies on all 5 senses.

its not meant to be taken literally…more on the figuratively level…anyways they’re trying to get this message across: ” if you do something; then i’ll know it in heartbeat; so better watch out…” they’re just telling to you beware.

because even when they can’t see you, they still know what you’re doing.
