Scholarships are awarded and do not have to be paid back. Financial aid is applied for as credit and has to be repaid.

No, they are not the same entirely. Financial aid refers to a person completing the FAFSA form for need based money to attend college which is based on family income, family savings, your income, and savings. The FAFSA form will include if you meet the financial requirements the Pell Grant, campus work study program, need based college scholarships from the school’s endowment fund, and subsidized loans. There are outside scholarships out there in which any person can apply for regardless of income, but they are selected by a judgment committee. Good luck!

A Scholarship is money you are given for school and do not have to pay back. Financial Aid is also money you are given for school. You do not have to pay it back if you get a Financial Aid grant. Otherwise it is usually a low interest rate loan you will have to start paying back 6 months after you graduate or quite school.
