You might want to contact a college advising company. Many are listed on the Internet. These companies could answer your question. There are many lending institutions in the United States. I don’t know if they only lend to citizens.

Something like half of our PhDs are issued to foreign students. Perhaps you can access the foreign students web site sections for some of the universities you would like to attend. You could also e-mail the institution and ask if you could contact some of the Indian studentsor professors. Ask these students how they got here. I know we are sending many of these PhDs back to their home countries because we aren’t processing their citizenship applications quickly enough even though we aren’t generating many US born PhDs.

I think Indians are making up the bulk of our foreign born PhDs. You probably need to contact Indians who are already here and ask them how they did it. There are many Indians at famous technical companies. You could try to get hold of a directory and e-mail a few of them and see if they have any ideas. There are Indian food stores here. Even though the owners don’t have MBAs, they could probably forward your e-mail to someone who does.
