If you can’t obtain a loan because of bad credit or no credit, you should still be able to apply for financial aid. Putting your tuition on a credit card is probably the dumbest thing you could do. What will you do next semester? How will you pay it off? What happens when you max the card out? Just apply for financial aid.

If you haven’t already check with the college financial aid or business office to see if they offer any payment plans. The college where I work offers a flexible payment schedule where students can pay off their tuition and fees a little every month.

If that isn’t an option ask them about low interest loans for college students.

Either of those options would be much better than putting it on your credit card which is (most likely) high interest and will end up costing you a lot more.

That’s doing things the hard way. If you apply for a student loan (which doesn’t always need a cosigner) you have deferred interest and a low rate of interest. If you put it on your credit card you can pay anywhere from 18% monthly interest (compounded) to 39% interest on late payments. If you don’t think you can get a student loan, try for a bank loan. But stay away from credit cards. They will triple the cost of your education.

Very bad move, you will be paying back two to three times that amount before you are all done. You need to find another source for the tuition or you are going to regret charging it.

Many years ago, my family and I were not able to come up with the cash to purchase a refrigerator that was actually less than $300.00 and got entangled into a payment plan/ charge account for it. When it was paid off several years later, we had actually paid close to $800.00 for it.

This was a tough and expensive lesson.

Apply for a work-study job at your college in order to earn the money for the tuition.

Good luck in your studies.

R U HIGH? GET STUDENT LOANS.OMG YOU WILL HAVE WAY MORE THAN MONEY ISSUES AND YOUR CREDIT CARDS CANT HOLD THAT MUCH. STUDENT LOANS ARE EASY TO APPLY FOR, DONT HAVE TO PAY THEM BACK UNTIL YOU FINISH SCHOOL, AND CAN TAKE YOUR TIME ON IT. BESIDES THE RATES ARE HALF IF NOT MORE LESS THAN A CREDIT CARD.

As long as you can still pay your monthly credit card bill, it shouldn’t be a problem. So yes, if you can still pay your bills, do it!

However, I would double-check with your college’s financial office to see if they take your credit card. Also, sometimes there is a surcharge (2% extra or so) for using a credit card, so you might end up paying a little more, so be prepared.

i would first check with banks or financial groups that specialize in college loans. credit cards can get really tricky because APRs can go up.
