The school usually takes what you owe out of your financial aid, and if there is any left over give you a refund check of the difference. That is most likely what happened here.

Talk to a financial aid officer at your school for more information. Good luck!

Usually the school will take out the tuition before they send you your refund. The best way to tell would be to find out how much your tuition is for the semester, and how much financial aid you are getting and see if there’s a difference. Usually they will take it out first because the school wants to make sure that they are paid.

Make sure that the school didn’t already take out the money they need for tuition. My school does this and then sends me the check for the rest which is to be used for textbooks, supplies, living expenses, etc.

Pay your tuition with it. You’re lucky they told me I wasn’t eligible. Depending on what you’ve got, it could cover room and board, meals, and books as well as the class fees themselves. If you still have questions, make an appointment with someone in your school’s finacial aid or student accounting department. Good luck and stay on top of your aid because once you or the sponsor(it’s usually them) screws up the aid it is hard to get things back to the way they should be.

Check with your school. It is different for many. You need to see if they already payed for your tuition. If they did, then use this money for books and living expenses.
