I want to go to college, how can i get started?

I never wanted to go, but now I am 21 and have decided I would like to. I got horrible grades in school and I have no money. Is there any way I can still go. I know I have messed it up and it will be hard but I need to know where to start.

First, how bad is horrible? If you passed all your exams (even if you just barely slid by) and graduated, you still have a chance. If not, you should talk to an admissions officer at a college to see what you would need to do.

Many colleges have an open admissions policy, in which everyone who meets the minimum qualifications automatically qualify.

As for money, when you apply for admission, you can also get information about financial aid. You may qualify for a grant or a loan.

You can probably start by surfing the websites of colleges that you want to attend. They usually have admissions criteria and stuff like that on line.

One way—Decide which colleges you want to apply to and apply. Do they have junior colleges in your area? Those are called 2-year colleges in some parts of the country. Apply to those first. They will often accept students with lower GPAs from high school but you might have to take remedial courses in English and Math to make up for any low high school grades you have.

Another way—-Go to your local 2-year college and talk to a counselor. Bring your transcripts from high school. You can get those by calling the school district office. He or she will be able to tell you in you’re eligible.

As to money, it’s pretty easy to work while you’re in college, you just have to have lot of self-discipline. I know young adults who worked full-time and carried 12 to 16 units every semester and did well, so don’t think you can’t do it. You can, but it will be a lot of work. However, just think how proud you will be of yourself when you finish!! Plus, depending on your major, you’ll have a lot more job options open to you after college.

When you get into the 4-year university get student loans. Your courses get tougher as you become a junior and senior and you may not be able to work as much, so live off of your student loans a little.

Dependingo n your income there are all kinds of grants and loans available to you. Just visit your local community college. As long as you have a diploma you can still go there, and then transfer on to a bigger university if you want a 4 year degree. If you want to go to college, they will find you a away to pay for it.

IM me if you have any other questions.

try community college where is economically reasonable and flexible with work. you could also try night school or online college.
