I want to study Quantum Mechanics in college. What is the best thing to major in, and what’s the job outlook?

-I don’t want to pursue a PhD in physics

Quantum mechanics is a single course, two at the most. By the time you’ve done all the prerequisates for it, you’ve got at least a physics minor already. You can’t have a major just in quantum. It’s not useful for much if you don’t want to do research (get a PhD), but it’s pretty easy to find a job with a physics major – for a tech company, or a nuclear plant, or a oil company, say.

Physics would be the best way to go into that field, whether you like it or not. It really depends on what special area of Quantum Mechanics you want to enter the more specialized, the more money, but also the least opportunity.

why do you want to study this? what do you expect to get out of studying this? do the people that studied this have the lifestyle you want? the lifestyle your going to have to life with the rest of your life?

Define the lifestyle you want, Learn from those that have that lifestyle, then do what they did to get it. aka no debt, cash for cars, so on and so fourth. If you can’t find people like this willing to share, contact me, username at yahoo.com
