Have you rec’d your SAR report yet? This SAR report will let you knwo what is being offered to you. If it is not on there, I would call FAFSA for an explanation. 1-800-433-3243

Assuming you have completed the FAFSA and put the college you are attending in there, you should receive an Award Letter from that college or university. If your EFC is 0, then there is no doubt in my mind you will be given a Federal Pell Grant with the most you could possibly get or somewhere close to that. I received my award letter from Kent State University, and I got a Federal Pell Grant that is worth $4,310 for the entire school year(that includes the Fall and Spring semester together). And also, depending on what state you happen to live in, you might get some other grants from the state you are in. I am receiving the Ohio College Opportunity Grant as well, but each state is different, your state might not have one but then again it might, look it up. I am also receiving a loan as well for my schooling, a Federal Subsidized Loan that I’ll have to repay after graduation, but for the time being I’m going to have a lot of money left over to spend on different expenses such as books and whatnot. I don’t have to worry about room/board, I am attending a regional campus, therefore, I will be living at home at least for this year and attending school. If you would like anymore help, just ask. My email is [email protected] … feel free to send me a question. I’ll probably have the answer to just about anything because I did all this financial aid stuff myself this year without any help.

If your EFC is 0 then you most likely get the full Pell Grant amount ($4050 per academic year). You did you make sure that your college received the FAFSA ( it’s the second to last section of the FAFSA). If you did, then your college will decide how to allocate the funds and will send you an award letter. Check with your financial aid office if you have questions.

unfortunately pell grants are not so easily given. they are purely income/family based. if your parents fall above a certain income bracket you will not qualify for one.
