I’m not too familiar with school loans, grants, or anything that falls in the catergory. I need help.?

I took out my own private loan for cosmetology school…I could’ve got a loan through the school but my parents refused to give me their taxes because they didnt want me to go to cosmetology to begin with…I pay monthly…and I will be done with school in July, but I will run out of money in December…I dont want to take out another loan because im already paying for one as we speak…and all my money goes towards bills right now…I’m just laying my options out on the table now so that I can know what I am going to do by December. Anyone have any suggestions? any websites I can go to? Anyone that would be good to speak to about this? Ideas, information, opinions. Bring it on.

There is one way that you can get government loans without your parents, by gaining independent status. In order to do so, you have be either over 24, married, or have a child. So if you’re either one of these things, you can apply for the fasfa independently and get government aid or loans, which are much better than private loans.

Also, you can try applying for scholarships to help you out as well. Check fastweb.com, they have a great deal of scholarships listed, so you’re sure to fine something that can help.

And last but not least, you can beg your parents for their tax info so you can get your fasfa and government aid.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

You could take out a second loan and consolidate it into a longer term, lower monthly minimum payment (aka turn 2 loans into 1)… but I would recommend paying it off ASAP so interest doesn’t hit you too hard. You can make the minimum payment then send in a second check (if you can/want to) to apply it to the principal every month to pay it off quickly.
