How can I pay for graduate school when I am only taking 3 credits per semester. The citi assist loan is too hi

I have decided to back to college for a graduate degree. each course is $2000. It seems that when you take less that 2 classes per semester you pay through the nose in student loans. I borrowed $5000 for this year and th efinance charges on $5000 are over $8000. I will go absolutely broke this way. I am trying to thik of a more clever way to pay for my education. thanks

Financial support does exist for graduate study, but seeking it out demands persistent and comprehensive research and follow-up on your part. The best sources of information about financial aid are often the universities to which you are applying. Also, refer to guides on the Internet, which identify strategies and sources for financing your education. Write to your prospective department about assistantships, fellowships, and scholarships, as well as to the financial aid office about work-study, student loans, and other assistance options. Contact national, state or local chapters of professional associations, unions, corporations, banks – many of these organizations offer financial assistance to students.

Taking three credits is a start but it won’t get you anywhere in a hurry.

Some companies give you released time to take courses and some will actually pay for them.

There is a severe shortage of teachers in some school districts particularly in Math and Science. These districts have various incentives including bur not limited to course reimbursements.

Have you tried to apply for grants or scholarships? These are great alternatives to student loans because you don’t have to pay them back. You can read about them here:

Here are some sites that offer scholarships:
