If I do not report the GIBILL in my Fasfa will i be in trouble and what are the rammifications? And what happens if i do report my GIBILL to Fasfa. Will it lower significantly? How will they find out ? Thank you you answers will be put to good use!

i am not sure if it will lower anything but, there is a section that asks u if uare in the armed services and it goes to ask many others if u answered yes. however if u fail to provide any information that is asked for or it is not correct, that is considering falsifying information will can be lead to a serioud fine of like $10,000-20,000 and jail time. si be honest about what they ask because they will ask if u receive any other benefits and etc

Unfortunately, the FAFSA treats the GI Bill as a scholarship, so even though you paid for it, and earned the hell out of it, it will in fact lower your promises for financial aid… I wouldn’t advise trying to get away with not reporting it, as the GI Bill goes through the Veteran’s Affairs office at your school… Some states give veterans additional discounts on tuition, I would look into that for sure…

Unfortunately, you will have to list your VA benefits because it will cause a conflict in your financial aid. Most schools have a VA representative who must certify that you are gong to school through the Va Once portal. If you do not list the benifits, you will have to correct your FAFSA to show them. Will it affect your FA, I can’t say for sure but make sure you make nice with the a rep at your school because they are going to be the ones that help you navigate the VA Once system. Make sure you update them any time you change your program or drop credits. The last thing you want is to be in overpayment to the VA.

The gi bill will have no effect on your FASFA, but you still should report it on your FASFA. The financial aid people at school report it anyways, don’t they?

well, failure to report the gill bill on the fafsa….read the statement towards the end of the application. They clearly state what can happen. No, the gill bill does not lower additional aid expect for unsubsidize loan.

Talk to the transistion counselor at your base or someone in the education assitance office. You can also contact the school you plan to attend and ask to speak to the financial aide office there…any of these places should be able to give you the information you need.
