For FAFSA…?

Who typically receives money and who doesn’t?

Just wondering, if you have statistics also, that would be great.

That question really can’t be answered correctly here as it is very subjective. Your school uses your EFC (Expected Family Contribution) in conjunction with their COA (Cost of Attendance) to determine what type of aid you could be eligible for.

You should talk to a financial aid officer at your school for more information/guidance.

Good luck!

If your parents make money, the government expects them to contribute unearthy amounts of money to your education. So you are pretty much screwed out of the money and all you qualify for is some stupid loan that has interest accruing all the time you are in school.

If you are poorer than dirt, then you can actually get some money.

It is a horrible horrible system. My parents did not pay anything towards my schooling. Because they make a lot in a year, I wasn’t able to qualify for any loans, so I got the standard one with interest. I think that FAFSA should be based off of who is paying for college. If the kid is, they should fill it out based on their income and all that. If the parents are, then it should be based on the parents. The way it is set up now, you have to be from a poor family to be able to afford college.

Good luck. I hope you qualify for something. Student loans really suck.

The amount of Federal Aid you receive is determined by your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). My EFC was $3,063 and I received about $1,400 in FEDERAL AID. Different schools try to fill your financial need by giving you money of their own.

Call your local college FA office and ask them for statistics. Pell Grants are income driven. No one category of student is eligible. There are too many variables.
