College Sport Recruiting?

How exactly do you get recruited for a college for a sport? And what if you are EXTREMELY good at a sport but only have like a GPA of 2.5 for your high school average? Can you still get recruited? Does grades really matter when you are getting recruited for a sport? Also, what all comes with being recruited??? Other than payment of tuition??

Don’t know what sport you are playing, but here are online tips for getting that college scholarship for baseball including a complete 4 year high school timeline.

You can send in a videotape of a game/match to the school that you want to recruit you. If they like it, then they will contact you, if not then try again with another school. If you’re extremely good, then they might have already heard of you and contacted you through your high school. Grades are very important to a recruiter. They want to make sure that you are going to be able to make it in college. If you don’t have a high enough GPA in college, it won’t matter how good you are, you won’t be elgible to play. Tuition does not always get paid in full either. You can get partial scholarships for some sports. It also depends on the division of the school. DI and DII can give scholarships, but DIII cannot. DII can only give some scholarships. When you are recruited, you can choose to sign a letter of intent to play at that school. If you sign the letter you are committing to go to that school to play when you graduate. More than likely your coach will give you a training schedule of what you should be doing your senior year and over the summer. Good luck!

Depends on the sport and whether your female or male. Other than Vollyball, Football and Basketball I think all other sports are usually just partial scholarships. 2.5 is O.K. if your ACT is exceptable. That varies on the school you want to get into also. Also depends on your sports coach. Some coach’s push certain players because of school politics, i.e. coasch’s son or daughter, booster parents child, friends child.

If your truly good at something, the coaches will find you, but it doesn’t hurt to contact any schools you are interested in so they can make plans to see you, contact you, write you and ask your coach about you.

But remember, just like in the real world, the best athletes aren’t always the ones that everyone knows about, sometimes all you need is hype.

Good Luck!
