boarding school…again?
but i dont think we can afford it
most boarding schools are about $25,000-$35,000 a year (i looked it up)and my mom only makes $1000 every other week. I know there is no way a kid my age (12) would be able to make enough money to be able to help much with paying for this
i could probably manage about $1000 a year but that would still leave hardly any-no money for my mom at home if I leave
should I just forget about it or is there some way that i could find a decent boarding school with really good financial aid?

Boarding school doesn’t teach you responsibilities, since everything is done for you there. Your room is cleaned by staff (you could amaze your mom by keeping your own room clean at home) meals are prepared and served by staff (you could even help your mom plan and cook a meal – and help with the cleanup after) the grounds are cared for by staff (you could learn to run a lawn mower) and the kids all wear uniforms (but you could learn to look after your own clothing, repair whatever needed fixing, make sure stuff gets into the laundry instead of living in piles on the floor – and even learn how to operate the washing machine.)
In fact, if you want to learn responsibility, home is a far better place to do it – and it costs a whole lot less.
Good on you, though, for having the initiative to recognize how important being responsible for yourself is – both in your life today, and in your future life.
You sound like a winner.
Try two weeks at Scout or church camp before you decide you’re so ready to move away from your mom.
