In fact, the whole research will revolve around the research questions that will be identified. The success or failure of the research will be gauged by how well the researcher answers the research questions. As such, it is very crucial for the researcher to identify questions that will effectively address his chosen topic.

In this research proposal, the writer will give a set of questions that will direct him throughout. The researcher will also supply the reader with the importance of the question, it relevance to the research and why it was chosen. The ways through which the answer to the research question will contribute to the literature in the field of education theories will also be provided. The researcher will also provide in this proposal the expected outcome of each and every of the questions that he will seek to address. The researcher will be guided by a set of three research questions.

The following are the research questions that the researcher will be addressing in this research:

1: What are the Differences and Similarities between Servant Leadership and Transformational Leadership?

Why the Question was Chosen

Servant and Transformational Leadership: Research Questions

A lot of literature does exist on transformational and also servant leadership. However, the literature addresses the two leadership philosophies separately. There is no research that has been conducted, or literature written, that tried to connect the two leadership styles. This research will be one of the first efforts made to address the two leadership styles at the same time.

This been the case, it becomes then very important to establish the differences and similarities between the two philosophies at the very onset of the research.

How the Answer Will Contribute to the Field

By answering this question, the researcher will be making a very big contribution in the field of educational theories. He will provide the readers with a clear picture of how the two most popular leadership styles are connected. The connection comes out well in the comparison of the two, where the differences and the similarities emerge.

Expected Outcomes for the Question

The researcher expects to establish differences and similarities between these two forms of leadership styles. The similarities between the two are expected to be there, since they are two of the most popular leadership styles. However, the researcher expects to establish more differences between the two than similarities. This is because these leadership paradigms, though both famous, are applied by totally different types of leaders. As such, they will tend to be different in order to reflect the different attributes of the subscribers.

2. What are the Values of Each of the Two Leadership Styles?

Servant and Transformational Leadership: Research Questions

Why the Question was Chosen

It has already been established that the two leadership styles have similarities and differences. It will then be important to establish the values or attributes of each of these leadership styles, given that they share some similarities and some differences.

How the Answer will contribute to the Field

By answering this question, the research will be providing crucial information as to the perceived and actual uses of these two styles. Since the two styles are different, finding out the values that they enshrine will give the reader a clue as to the nature of the leaders who adopt these styles.

This is because it is assumed that by choosing a certain leadership style from a myriad of others, a leader is expressing some inherent personality trait.

Expected Outcomes

The researcher suspects that the two leadership styles have very strong values that are inherent to them. These values are also expected to be similar to some extent between the two styles, and also to differ in some quarters.

3. What are the Attributes of the Leaders who adopt these Leadership Styles? Why the Question was Chosen

Servant and Transformational Leadership: Research Questions

The researcher opines that since the two leadership styles are pragmatically different from each other, they will tend to reflect certain attributes of the leaders who adopt them. There are leaders who favor transformational over servant leadership and vise versa. The researcher was interested in finding out what the attributes were that led a leader to prefer one style over the other.

Contributions of the Answer

The findings of this question will provide clarifications on the traits that are common between leaders who opt for the same leadership styles. It is suspected that leaders who opt for the same leadership style share some common characteristics. The answer to this question will either support or refute this supposition.

Expected Outcomes

The researcher expects to establish some similarities in the personality attributes of the leaders who favor one style of leadership over the other. There will also be differences between the leaders who adopt different leadership styles. This is because the two styles have different values and aspirations. These values are the ones that appeal to the leaders. Since these values are to a larger extent different, it is not far fetched to assume that they equally appeal to different personalities within the individuals.
