this is fun… let’s see how i can do. i’ll even use all the words in order 😉

it’s CLEAR to see that this NERVE’s exposed

his heart continues to SQUIRT blood onto all our clothes

looking for words like band-aids in every VERSE

but lies SURF through teeth where the madmen LURK

a YEAR ago, my mind was STERN

but SPURTS of chaos have made me learn

that nothing’s a given when creepers LURCH

and masked-men steal, and liars BLURT

where THIRST is never quenced with blood

and kids throw punches instead of mud

where it’s ignored when nation leaders SPUR-on war

give props to the rich and diss the poor

an ENGINEER can’t find a place for hire

endures JEERs from his wife who also got fired

a million faces SNEER the TV

where death tolls read seven hundred and three

so DREARY summers we work, and what do we get?

to pay *more* taxes, and SQUIRM just to avoid debt

‘not my president’, my mind will never SWERVE

the honest, working citizens don’t get what they deserve

less than two more years – oh how my heart YEARNS

but until that day: the oil still burns.

how’s that?

The clear blue sky got on my last nerve so I decided to squirt my water bottle and read a verse from the Bible. I later went to surf at the beach and saw several sharks lurk behind the rocks. It had been a year after my stern biology teacher lectured me on marine mammals. Then, I saw an elderly man lurch across the beach and blurt out “cowabunga!”. After swimming in the ocean for several hours, thirst got to me so I decided to get out. In a spur-of-the-moment decision, I drove to my friend, who was an engineer and jeered and sneered at his dreary attitude. I went back to my car and drove for fifty miles. I began to squirm in my seat and later fell asleep, swerving to the side of the road. The police arrested me and I was sent to prison. Oh, how I yearned for the good old days of freedom!
