Which is correct: “Dos and Don’ts” or “Do’s and Don’ts?”?
The latter looks better, but seems grammatically incorrect: i.e. the apostrophe serves no purpose apart from the somewhat cosmetic effect.

Well, according to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, they’re both right:

For what it’s worth, I agree with you. “dos” looks weird and the apostrophe in “do’s” seems out of place.

As you have clearly seen, dear asker, when you typed “Do’s”, it was immediately underlined by our spellcheck whatchamacallit. As when you typed “Dos”, the spellcheck could just suck it!

If you wanted to use “Do’s”, wouldn’t you also have to write “Don’t’s” for consistency’s sake?
