What’s is the proper term for a person who is overly concerned with their appearance?

I’m looking for a term that essentially means “overly concerned with appearance,” but in worryingly way. Narcissistic and conceited might work, but these terms imply that the person thinks highly of themselves and has high self-esteem (in my book, at least). I’m looking for a word that means, “worried about appearance because of possible embarrassment.”

because of the fact that’s the media that sends subliminal messages to society. Then society is hypnotized into questioning what’s incorrect and what’s suited. that’s stupid artists like LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, and another stupid pop or crappy rap artists that inform you what you’re meant to do, placed on, and say rather of performing as good effective function fashions. the only reason the media does it is to get funds. The adolescents the media impacts are “the cool infants.” “The cool infants” ultimately sense so finished of themselves because of the fact they prefer to slot in, they placed tension on the “losers.” and that’s the story of a f**ked up society.

I think “fop” works. Here are some other words from Merriam-Webster:

dandy, coxcomb, popinjay, blade, cavalier, swell, clotheshorse

You ever see the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” In it, George Clooney’s character, Everett, is really concerned about his hair. The brand of pomade he uses is called “Fop.” The brand name really fits!

“Painfully shy” would do; those folks often do exactly what you’ve described.

I might also call such a person a “primper” if she was female. (In a bad mood, I might also call her “prissy.”) “Self-centered”or “self-focused” might also work well. Does “egocentric” do anything for you? Perhaps you could try “has high standards” or even “has high standards and trouble meeting them.”
