Wouldn’t the connotation for most of these words depend on the context they were used in?

Unfit mother – UNFAVORABLE

-but-

Unfit for deceiving people – FAVORABLE

Absurd comedy – FAVORABLE

-but-

Absurd eulogy – UNFAVORABLE

Effective remedy – FAVORABLE

-but-

Effective killer – UNFAVORABLE

Festive party – FAVORABLE

-but-

Wearing festive clothes to a funeral – UNFAVORABLE

During WWII people at home had to support the war effort by living on short rations of meat, gas, sugar and other things – UNFAVORABLE

-but-

If we ration our ill will towards others – FAVORABLE

SINISTER is probably the only word on the list that has only UNFAVORABLE connotations in any context.

Context aside, Jeff has given good answers.
