A rather roundabout way of saying ‘and didnt select you’. It is not incorrect for you to clarify for sure with the interviewer(s).

The answer is tricky. If you are already got selected then, it means that there is one more person is there in addition to you.
But, yesterday was the final interview. It means… that was the final of all the interview sessions.
So, I think the interview you attended was a not final one in its kind and you did not selected. Now, there is one person is got the selection than you.
