Next thing I knew, {the walls were shaking. My heart was breaking} and oh my lord, off in the corner, {the cockroach from hell was singing a duet with the silverfish.}
I turned to run, but the cockroach sang out, {“Where do you think YOU’RE going?} You must stay here with us now, we need a soprano for our Barbershop quartet ya know!”
Something moved in the other corner, and I screamed in fear. {“HAS ANYONE SEEN MY PROZAC?!”}
An elbow in my side landed hard. It drove the breath out of me, and I turned my head to see a face. Though blurry from my sleep filled eyes, I knew her.
{“If you scream in my ear one more time, my brain cells will start falling out!”} she muttered crossly.
{“I think I just saw a gremlin..”} I tried to explain. It was hard since I still had no breath in my lungs. Dang she has a wicked elbow.
She sighed, but the tiny smile told me she wasn’t really angry. {“You are my cross to bear,} sweetheart, but I still love you. Nobody else would take you, not with that wacky imagination of yours. Now get some sleep, or I’ll make sure you do meet a gremlin..real soon.”
She gave me a kiss and rolled over. She was asleep quickly, but I couldn’t doze off for quite some time. I kept hearing what sounded like a trio of voices, singing ‘Way Down on the Swanee River.’
Wow. Sometimes my imagination frightens even me.
“Where do you think YOU’RE going?” came an eerie voice that seemed to envelop us. The sound of thunder only added to the frightening scene.
“Why did you break us out?” asked the cockroach in an accusing tone of voice that sounded like the rusty hinges of a creaky door. “I just knew this was a bad idea.” It had four eyes on each side of its head that stared at me with fear and hatred mingled together. I heard myself screaming in fright.
I shouted out” where do you think you`re going?” she ignored me and ran off. I chased after her, running through the rain soaked fields, i finally caught up with her.
“why are you running away?” ” I am sake of being told what to do”
I told her, ” you are my cross to bear, so why do you feel not wanted……. We both love you dearly” I knew there was a storm brewing and i was afraid of the eerie sounds of the night. The sound of thunder only added to the frightening scene. I just knew this was a bad idea, i should have stayed in the house. “Look ” i shouted ” I think i saw a gremlin” Probably my imagination working overtime. We huddled together under a tree until the rain stopped and talked like we had never talked before. she agreed to come home with me in order to start afresh. It had been too much for me as once more inside the house i shouted out loud, “HAS ANYONE SEEN MY PROZAC?”
It was early morning last Summer when I awoke to a roaring storm. As I look out my window, I could see the effects of the hurricane-like winds. In my house, the walls were shaking & my heart was breaking to see the distruction. I felt that I should get out of the house because it was in danger of colasping, and beside that, I think I just saw a gremlin twister in the clowds. As I began running through the rain soaked fielsds, I met a neighbor rushing toward me. “Where do you think you’re going?” he asked. I told he I was afraid to stay inside the house, but then, I just knew this was a bad idea.
In all the excitement, I didn’t realize I was talking so loudly, but the neighbor grabbed me by the shoulders and said, “If you scream in my ear one more time, my brains cells will start falling out!” I answered, “I suposed I should be claim,…has anyone seen my prozac?” Just then I awoke from my dream, and all was well. 🙂
