Shouldn’t the word palidrome be a palindrome?

My friends and I thought it should be palindromemordnilap. It just makes makes sense. If we’re crazy let me know.

Yes, it should be palindrome. Since it means a word or sentence that is spelled the same backwards and forwards, your made-up word with the “e” in the center connecting and forming the last letter in the two words conjoined to make one word spelled the same backwards and forwards is quite appropriate: “palindrom e mordnilap”. I’ve broken out the “e” just to make it easier to see where the two words come together.

This has been asked sooooo many times on here and no, it shouldn’t necessarily be anything. That’s like asking if the word ‘long’ should be a long word, or if the word ‘loud’ should be shouted. It’s a descriptive term; not describing itself.

haha I’ve always thought that they should have named it after a word that was actually one! palindromemordnilap may be a little hard to pronounce, how about we just rename them “raar” or something like that.
