in this sentence what is the subordinate clause and the independent clause and the direct object : After I moved, I rented a beautiful new apartment.

The subordinate clauseis the one that can’t stand on its own as a sentence. Obviously, “after I moved” wouldn’t be a whole sentence.
The independent clause can stand alone. “I rented a beautiful new apartment.” makes a fine sentence.
The direct object is the thing something’s being done to. The apartment is being rented. It isn’t really doing the action, but the action (renting) is being done to it (to the apartment.)
