punctuation question?

Would the simicolon I have in this sentance be correct?

He started to panic and yelled at her to move; when she saw his face grow pale, his eyes widen, and his mouth drop open, she looked up and screamed.

yes. a semicolon divides two related ideas and shows their closeness, but the ideas are complete sentences by themselves…. the semicolon shows a close relationship between the two. It is not necessary to use a semicolon in this sentence you wrote. It would work as two separate sentences, but, yes, you used the semi colon correctly.

i think the semicolon works better. and about the above response… it doesn’t really seem as though you were working with another thought after the semicolon, being as you’re describing his panic.

You should go with a period instead, since you are going with a new thought for the next sentence.

i think that if you want a semicolon in this sentence, it belongs between “drop open; she looked up and screamed.”

i think…yes…

i’d go with a period, but i don’t see anything wrong with the semicolon.
