How come some people put words in quotes when it is not nessesary like above?

First of all, that is pArenthesEs (plural). I used parentheses because otherwise that would read ….parentheses plural, which does not make sense. You will see them and quotation marks used very often in this category because we are talking ABOUT words almost as much as we are using them to express ourselves.

Because they’re stupid.
Ohhhh.. that’s because they are quoting someone, and the words in parentheses were not the exact words of the person who they quoted it from.
