My intended major is applied mathematics/computer science or engineering. Where should I go to college?

What would be the benefits of going to University of Texas at Austin versus University of Texas at Arlington? Would Rice University be a good choice? would caltech or MIT or an ivy league be worth it? Should I even bother applying?

Follow your heart. You are too smart for UTA, however rice and ut seem to be good options. Maybe you should go for a private university thats not exactly an Ivy League, like northwestern, or maybe you shouldn’t go to college and become a hacker, I have heard they make more that professors!

Caltech and MIT are the best. Their courses are the most rigorous. Rice would be a little better than UT-Austin. A&M would actually be a much better backup choice than UT-Arlington, unless you really can’t stand living in the country. In engineering, most of the Ivy League schools are actually not even as good as UT or Texas A&M.

It all depends on you GRADES, if you got good grades try and go for the big boys MIT or Caltech…but I’m going to tell you I fell in love with the Univer of Texas at Austin but went to Chicago instead. But for Science I would head towards MIT.

Get into the best University you can. It is that simple, but it is not the end of the world if you can’t get into Ivy League schools and stuff.

Anything school in the Big Ten has good math and physics programs. I would say the same for their engineering.
