Lee was originally a name for males.

After the fame achieved by actress Janet Leigh, her last name, which is pronounced “Lee”, was taken as the first name for many female babies. In addition, Janet Leigh named her daughter Jamie Lee.

Now Leigh is often misspelled Lee when used for females.

The result is “yes”, it is a name for males or females.
