How does rest of america pronounce Dog?

Is it dAWg, or dag?

I’m from NJ, and I got made fun of when I said Dog in class in Dallas.

I grew up in western PA, I say dahg. My hubby grew up outside of Philly, and says dawg. Our kids have often questioned dog, water, daughter, bury, and Dawn/Don. All of those will sound different to your friends in Dallas. Good luck!

Upstate NY. Dog is pronounced like the word log, but with a D. Anytime I’ve heard it prounounced Dawg, they were usually from the south. Dag, I’ve never heard of, sorry.

I’m from NY and I pronounce it like “dAWg.”

I have relatives in TX and they had a hard time when I pronounced the word “law.” They made me repeat it five times and they only understood what I was talking about when I spelled it out for them. They say it more like “lah.”

It’s pronaunced dAWg down here ya’ll, and I’m from Dallas too. Although I have some friends from New Jersy, and they have really funny accents too!! (no offense intended, I’m sure we have accents from ya’lls point of view!)

Edit: need_to_know: isn’t ‘lah’ how ya’ll are supposed to pronounce it??? ๐Ÿ™‚

I say it more like… Dahg, making an open “ah” sounds instead of “aw” or “a”.

Accents are cute, don’t let folks make fun of you for them. ๐Ÿ˜‰
