A little Southern Comfort

How do you pronounce these words that are oftened mis-pronounced?

How do you pronounce these words that are often mis-pronounced? Or perhaps they are just said differntly depending on where they are from. So tell me how you say them and where you are from?

1. Salmon A. (sah-mahn) or B. (Sahl-mohn)

2. Pecan A. (Pea-cohn) or B. (Pea-cahn)

3. Caramel A. (Cahr-ah-mehl) or B. (Care-ah-mehl)

Thanks! You can just list the numbers and A or B as your answer. If you could tell me where your from that would be great! Thanks and I really appreciate all your help!

I’m from India and truth to tell, I don’t think I’ve used either of the words, Salmon or Pecan in my life. I’m guessin I’d pronounce Salmon as Sal-mun and Pecan as Peeken. Caramel, I pronounce as Care-em-ell… I think.

1. Salmon: sam-man – with a flat a, accent on first syllable

2. Pecan: Puh-con – accent on second syllable

3. Caramel: cara-mel – accent on the first syllable

No doubt I’m mispronouncing – I’m a southerner from the piedmont of NC. NC has four distinct accents: mountains, piedmont, eastern and outer banks. So other tarheel pronunciations will vary from mine.
