How do we say the measurement of our eyes in English?

In Indonesia, we use the word “minus” for short-sightedness, for example minus 1.5, and we use the word “plus” for long-sightedness, for example plus 2.0 .

How do we describe this in English?

We do the same in English. My eyesight has been measured as 1.75 in both eyes. I don’t know if there is a name for this measurement.

In English, eyeglass prescriptions are also expressed as numbers. There are three types of numbers; the first, “sphere” or “spherical” is the one you are referring to. This number may be followed by two other numbers which refer to other kinds of distortion. It’s the same in Indonesia, but people don’t usually mention the other two numbers.

near-sighted and far-sighted. We can also say someone who is near-sighted is myopic, which word is sometimes used metaphorically for someone who does not take the big picture or long term into account.

We also use the ‘Snellen acuity’ measure. Typically, someone who has good vision has 20-20 vision. Someone who is very nearsighted might have 20-200 vision, in other words they see at 20 ft what someone else can see at 200 ft. (wikipedia has a slightly different version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_acuity )
