does this sentence have correct punctuation?

Here is the sentence: As they days went on, I told all my friends about the duel, and then said “Oh yea, I can definitely beat him. He’s an easy win.” I didn’t realize that I made myself sound a little egotistical.

AND

Am I supposed to have a period before the quotation marks, when the word after the quotation mark is a new sentence?:

He’s an easy win.” I didn’t realize that I made myself sound a little egotistical.

Usual language:

“oh yeah, I could definitely beat him. He would be an easy win.”

Unusual but proper language:

“Oh yes, I could most definetely delinquish him. He would be a rather easy win.”
