Do you use Spell Check EVERY time you ask and/or answer?
Favorite Answer
By the way, I just hit “next”!
God forbid the answer is a technical or detailed answer and then happens to be wrong. Then all of your efforts to try to make it somewhat legible was all for nothing. Why should I have to guess at what you are trying to say? If you only took a extra minute or so to REread over your answer and catch your mistakes, then that saves thousands of readers and the asker from having to do that for you. It just seems so elementary to me. However, in opposition (notice I purposely did not say “defense” as there in no defense towards having poor grammar or spelling – especially if you are educated about it) having proper spelling and grammar is a little bit more of a sensitive issue for me because I am an English major at college. Therefore, I am a lot more conscious of my writing than most.
Finally, just to comment on what a previous answerer had stated, I am not trying to be rude or mean, but I found his answer a bit off. Someone above me replied that he *never* uses spellchecker because he is not at work and, “… it is not about confidence. i spellcheck at work, this is my relaxing time.” What? You associate relaxing with poor spelling? There should be no “hard work” in writing correctly if you were taught to. It should be an almost automatic, natural thing to write and spell correctly and not just when the boss is going to see it. That is just like saying I only speak in a comprehensive manner at work, and at home I do not because it would be too much work? How weird does that sound? Anyways… again… I am going to stress this. I do not mean to come off as superior or denigrate people, (because intent is easily misunderstood in texts) but you asked, so I told you. Cheers!
ok I just tried it. Not too bad.
