LOL! I haven’t heard that one in awhile.

Means someone is all show and no substance. They make look like a cowboy, but it don’t mean anything without cattle.

This is an incredibly complex and confusing topic. One that is almost out out of the reach of the human mind. I don’t know if I personally completely understand it, but i’ll try to explain what i think i know. In the Big-Bang theory, the universe, that is all the matter that makes up the entire cosmos, started out squiched in a space so infinitesimally compact that it had no dimensions at all. This is known as a singularity. Outside, of the singularity, there is nothing. No wait, that’s wrong. There is no outside of the singularity. Space did not exist yet. Time did not exist yet. The singularity had not been there for a second, it had not been there for a quadrillion years. Time did not exist. The singularity had not been there for any amount of time at all. There was no past for it to emerge from. It was just there. And then it happened. Now remember, it didn’t happen after millions of years, it wasn’t waiting for just the right moment. Time did not exist yet. In Bill Bryson’s, A Short History of Nearly Everything, he puts it quite poetically. “And so, from nothing, our universe begins. In a single blinding pulse, a moment of glory much too swift and expansive for any form of words, the singularity assumes heavenly dimensions, space beyond conception. In the first lively second, is produced gravity and the other forces that govern physics…In three minutes, 98 percent of all the matter there is or ever will be has been produced. We have a universe.” One of the fundamental reasons you are confused is you are under a common misconception that time makes things happen. It doesn’t. Things make things happen. The laws of physics make things happen. Time has nothing to do with it. And again, just because there was no time, does not mean there was no matter. The two are not dependent. Now of course this is hard to understand. I’m mostly getting this from Bill Bryson and other websites. I don’t get it all myself. I have no idea in hell how anyone could possibly know any of this, but scientists are like another breed. I don’t know if I believe this or not, but that’s just the theory and I’m giving you the information. I hope this helps you understand Big Bang theory a little better.

Again refers to vanity. For example when a company gives someone a fancy title in lieu of a raise in salary. Ever wonder why these titles are always having their names changed? Because some “fatheads” can be better satisfied with a title than with money. Fat head (big hat) and no cattle (no money).

Those sayings are great. Are you getting them out of a book of sayings or what?

Randy Newman: Big Hat, No Cattle

Album:Bad Love

Title:Big Hat, No Cattle

Since I was a child

I’ve tried to be what I’m not

I’ve lied and I’ve enjoyed it all my life

I lied to my dear mother

to my sisters and my brother

and now I’m lying to my children and my wife

Big Hat, no cattle

Big head, no brain

Big snake, no rattle

I forever remain

big hat, no cattle

I knew from the start

Big boat, no paddle

Big belly, no heart

Can’t remember why I do it,

Oh, maybe I can.

An honest man these days is hard to find.

I only know we’re living in an unforgiving land.

And a little lie can buy some real big piece of mind.

Oftimes I wondered what might I have become,

Had I but buckled down and really tried.

But when it came down to the wire

I called my family to my side

Stood up straight, threw my head back and I lied, lied, lied

Big hat, no cattle

Big shoes, well you know…

Big horse, no saddle

He goes wherever I go

Big hat, no cattle

Right from the start

Big guns, no battle

Big belly, no heart

When it came down to the wire

I called my little family to my side

Stood up straight, threw my head back and I lied, lied, lied

lied, lied, lied

Big hat, no cattle

Big head, no brain

Big snake, no rattle

I forever remain

Big hat, no cattle

I knew from the start

Big boat, no paddle

Big belly, no heart

Big boat, no paddle

Big belly, no heart

let’s just enjoy it

It refers to a person who is over confident and boastful but don’t really have the capacity to prove himself as he brags to be. In simple words: Someone feeling big but really is small.
