Do typos and grammatical errors bother you?

I make an occasional mistake or two myself, I’m definitely not perfect. Just wondering who out there is equally bothered by such mistakes and why?

Thanks!

Yeah, even though I end up making them.

It’s chatspeak and the misspelling if simple words that really bother me. (Ex: using “u” instead of you, “r” instead of are, etc)

Yes they bother me, also. Not that I don’t make several each time I touch the keyboard. I get irritated at my mistakes. Think it has a lot to do with personality. I inherited the perfection gene from my dad. (God rest his soul) I’m not quite as bad as I use to be. I’m learning that it takes too much time and effort to achieve perfection. And no one really makes it. This is time I could spend on something more worthwhile.

Give yourself a break. Take the first step and work on accepting imperfections with a bit of humor. Your life will be less stressful.

I make mistakes too every once in a while. I’m not perfect by any means.

However, I am annoyed when people make rampant mistakes in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. It seems as if these individuals did not care to pay attention in English class. Heck, how are these people supposed to fill out a job application or a resume without littering it with typos?

Either kids aren’t paying attention in English class or America is dumbing down her next generation of citizens (or both).

Naturally I make mistakes as well; however, in my experience I find that people that tend to be in a profession dealing with either teaching, publishing, or administrative work where their grammar and spelling typos would be “on display” or reflected in others (i.e. students of teachers), it is bothersome to them. I feel it is a good quality because it shows that you have pride in your work. I was a proofer for 6 years for a publishing company and now almost instantly I am able to spot a typo (usually on menus or signs)! Now I try to make light and fun of it instead of letting it drive me nuts… unless it is my own work of course! If that were the case, I would honestly be bothered. It has taken me a long time to realize life is too short to let other people’s lack of pride in their work or their lack of knowledge irritate me, yet, I know how it can. Hope this answers your question from my perspective. Best regards!

Well, it really depends on the situation. An occasional mistake or two is fine, but if I find that there are way too many, I start to get annoyed because there’s a higher chance that the other person (or myself) may get the wrong message.

Yes they do. If people would take the time to check their spelling and re-read their work, then there would not be mistakes. When you work in a large business, your correspondence reflects back on the company and ultimately you by the outside company. The higher your position in the company, the more pressure you have to correct every mistake.

Yes. But, the typos don’t bother me nearly as much as the grammatical errors. We’ve got a great language, To use it properly is beautiful. And if you check out my profile, you’ll see a fact about me which shows just how much I love words!

Yes, they bother more than anything because it makes the person seem ignorant and uneducated. I don’t mean uneducated like they didn’t go to college but uneducated like they couldn’t even learn what was taught in elementary and high school.

When I notice my own mistakes, even if no one else does, I turn beet red with embarrassment.

The occassional error is to be expected. What bothers me is that far too many of the “internet generation” seem not to know how to spell or form sentences correctly in the first place.

i don’t get livid, besides the undeniable fact that it does difficulty me each now and then. besides the undeniable fact that, my grammer isn’t particularly great the two, so i’ve got self assurance like i’m no longer one to choose. yet in a community which incorporate this one I take questions and solutions with clean and mature language greater heavily than those written in slang. because of the fact something written could be interpreted such numerous procedures, and abreviations/slang and so on make it that lots greater stable.

Spelling errors bother me tremendously. I feel that with today’s technology there is really no need to have spelling errors… unless of course you misspell a word that is another real word… accidents do happen from time to time.

Now with grammatical errors… those I am more guilty of.
