Can someone help me with this? How do you say?

To add/make a law in law terms? What is the “law” word used when someone makes a new law?

Also…in “law” terms, what is the word for taking away a law or making it null and void – it doesn’t exist anymore?

i think the term for a new law or something that is in the process of becoming a law is bill or legislation. the term to void or take away a law is veto. i could be wrong…long time since school has been out.

(create new laws) enact or legislate. Examples – congress enacted a new law that will take our guns away.

The liberal federal court judges like to legislate from the bench – i.e. make up laws that congress has not legislated yet.

(Nullifying an existing law) repeal. Example – Democrats in Congress are trying their best to repeal Bush’s tax cuts.

A bill is a proposed new law.

A statute is a formal, written law

A veto gives power, possibly unlimited, to stop changes, but not to adopt them.

A repeal is the removal or reversal of a law.

Nicely put Above.

Hope this helps! have a good day!
