Well first you have to find a school that offers a program, a certificate or an associate’s degree, in radiologic science or radiography. Some technical colleges and schools do. As prerequisites you’ll have to take some computer classes along with some algebra and anatomy along with basic healthcare. To get into the program you’ll have to get a full physical and vaccinations because you’ll be serving clinicals, which are basically internships, at hospitals and such. Once in you’ll be doing a lot of science classes, a lot of calculations, and procedures classes to learn how to take different x-rays. You’ll have to serve a certain amount of hours interning at hospitals and get what are called compentancies…exam tests that show you can take certain type of exams.

It usually takes 2 years. Once that’s all done you can then take the registry and get registered with the ARRT.

I’m an x-ray student. So far I’ve been liking it but it’s been tough. Some of the science classes, if you aren’t good with science and math, can be very hard. But I like it. I’m in my senior year, set to graduate in a year.

RadTech – BAS RT(R)(ARRT)
You will take things like anatomy and physiology, physics, radiation protection, pathology, positioning, ethics, terminology, etc.

I do like my job – it can be incredibly stressful, but it’s also very interesting.
