Is this real or just a scam?

I got a letter from this program called the “people to people student ambassador program”, and it says that i can go to Italy next summer, but the weird part is that I never signed up to this program. Another weird thing is that my 4 year old sister got one too, so I’m thinking its a fake, but i’m not sure, so can u help me?

It’s a scam – especially if they ask you to pay them money. If you’re still not sure, then a good thing to do would be to ask your school counselor.

There is an organization by that name, http://www.studentambassadors.org/ . I had received several letters from them and attended a meeting and it seemed to be legit, but did not have the money to go on the trip. To get a letter means that someone has nominated you for it. The letter has always come through the postal service and will only send you emails if you choose to attend a meeting.

Not sure why your sister received one, possibly a fluke or someone you know requested that information be sent to you.

I did a search using “Search for questions:” and found many questions on the program. I would highly suggest going to a meeting and make up your own mind when you go to get an unbiased view though. If attending the meeting is out of the question, contact them by email or phone to get more information about the program.

A “letter” or an “email”?

In either case…now that I’ve thought about it for a bit…I think you might consider either just tossing it, or forwarding it on to the FBI. This is right up their alley!

Cheers!

I know, you hate to be scammed, it’s like they think you are a bit naive. Ignore them, don’t try to communicate–or, sooner or later, probably sooner, they will want to get their hands on any money you can come up with.
