Would I like Tulane University?

New Orleanian culture does foster drinking and partying (Mardi Gras anyone?!) but you don’t HAVE to partake. Certainly there are plenty of bars and keg parties to satiate anyone’s thirst for some cheap beers 24/hours per day, but that’s not to say that someone will pour it down your throat. New Orleans has much, much more to offer than just it’s crazy night life. And Tulane is known as the “Harvard of the South” – it has a great academic reputation and the professors really do give a damn. Since Katrina, Tulane has been working hard to rebuild… not only its campus, but the surrounding city. You will fall in love with Tulane, with New Orleans, with your education.
With that said, I haven’t heard of Tulane being a huge party school. I have, however, heard of its being one of the best universities in the Southeast, so students obviously are committed to studying. I think you’ll be all right.
And now is a good time to apply to Tulane. They’re still rebuilding their enrollment after Katrina, and it’s a very good school that is constantly improving. Great environment, wonderful place to go to school. Apply!
