College recommendation letters?

I’m halfway done with the whole college application process, but I think it’s time to ask a couple of teachers for letters of recommendation. How do I go about this? What do I ask them exactly and do I need to give them anything up front (like my resume, envelopes, etc)?

Also… do they mail the letters to the colleges or do I do that? And what kind of envelope do I need to provide them with, a normal white one or what? Should I leave my email on my resume and ask them to email me whenever they’ve sent the letters, that way I know they’ve been sent and I can send a thank you card?

How do I send a thank you card… ask for their address or personally deliver to them in class AFTER I know that the letters have been sent?

Sorry for all the questions!! I’m just so nervous and I want everything to go as smooth as possible. THANK YOU!

I’m sure your teachers have written many such letters so don’t worry about telling them what they need to do. If they are willing to write a letter for you, you should provide them with stamped and addressed envelopes for each college you want to them to write to on your behalf. I believe you also need to give them a signed waiver that you have not read the letter before they sent it. You should definitely give them a thank you card afterwards; maybe just leave it with their department if you don’t know their contact information.

Good luck in your applications!

Each college has their own way of going about getting these, and it will say how to do it on their website. Some want you to give the teachers a form to fill out; others just want them to write a letter themselves. Some will tell you to collect signed, sealed letters and mail them in together – others want the teachers to send them in. I think giving them an envelope (stamped) with the address it’s going to is a good idea. A normal white envelope is fine – the letter will only be a page or two. I’d give them your resume when you ask – and don’t ask in front of a lot of other people in case they turn you down. A good way to phrase it is ‘can you write me a good recommendation?’. That gives them the chance to say no, maybe you should ask someone else (in case they would write a negative one for some reason).

you should be waiting to get a suggestion letter from a prior instructor. till it extremely says that it should be present day. is this for stepping into undergrad… like as a inexperienced persons or grad college?? the two way, email the touch for this gadget your stepping into and ask if this is a prior instructor just to make optimistic, they are there as a sprint to respond to questions. Ha, i’m attempting to get into grad college and ask mine questions each and every of the time. =) i’d ask the instructor which you think of is acquainted with you the excellent and has the excellent issues to declare approximately you. in case your present day instructor does not understand you they’ll maximum possibly write a typical letter of rec. which isn’t that superb to universities, they desire to take heed to actual issues approximately your artwork ethic, enthusiasm and expertise. solid success
