Well, I grew up in Carroll County, MD. Not in Westminster itself (home of McDaniel), but I spent a few weeks on campus over a few summers and have visited the area a few times.
Westminster is a small town sort of place. Nothing overly exciting, but some nice coffee shops and such. I don’t remember much being within walking distance of the University, but there are things to do not too far away.
If you are looking for a club scene or night life, if it isn’t a campus event, the pickings will probably be slim. Baltimore and even Washington DC are not too far away, but you will need a car to get there.
It’s immediate surroundings are in a relatively quiet and safe area.
