Working and going to school.?

I am taking 16 hours this fall, and am planning to work at least 15 hours a week.

I really want to make straight A’s, due to that I know I am capable of doing it. However, I also want to work because I enjoy the job I have now and they really need me because alot employees are leaving as soon as summer ends. Is it going to be impossible to reach both goals?

I don’t even want to achieve JUST those two things. I also enjoy cycling and wanted to spend alot of time training, but I am afraid I might have to give up that hobby.

God this sucks.

You can do it, but you’ll need to organize your life well.

1) Plan work times to be together, at efficient times for you

2) Plan in times to work, to go to class, to do homework, to exercise, to socialize, to rest, to sleep.

3) Stay on schedule.

4) If it’s too much, drop 1 class, if you can, or cut back on the cycling but don’t stop it.

It’s possible if you can fit it all in your schedule. First you have to decide what takes priority (school vs. job vs hobbies) if any scheduling conflicts arise, so you don’t freak out or lose sight of your goals if anything like that comes up. I hope you end up achieving everything you want, but be prepared in case something has to give. For example, if getting straight A’s is your top goal, then you gotta be ready in case you have to cut back your work hours or cycling or drop a class if that’s what it takes, you know what I mean? Basically, just stick to a schedule and have a backup plan in case life happens and you have to make those kinds of choices.

Believe it or not, studies have shown that people who work 15-20 hours a week actually do BETTER in school than those who don’t work. No more than 20 though. 15 is better.

Your life will probably only revolve around going to class, working, working out, and studying.

Many people go to class in the morning, work early afternoon, work out late afternoon, eat dinner, and then study at night.

I suppose you could also work on Saturday for more hours, but don’t forget to have at least SOME fun.
