At most places, personal letters of recommendation are pretty far down the list of things that a school looks at. #1 is your MCAT score, #2 your GPA, #3 is the interview, and #4 the letters and other things in your file.
Most schools want letters from faculty and staff- course instructors, research and so on- and personal references should be used as a last resort.
