Will playing High school football my senior year help me get into college?

Will playing high school football help me/affect getting into a good university even if it’s a small school and I don’t want to play in college? I have somewhere around a 3.4 GPA in honors classes and scored a 27 on the ACT. Is it worth playing?

If you never played football before in high school, then I won’t suggest starting now. By the time season starts, you college will have reviewed your application already, so if you are doing it just for the admission committee, then it might be too late.

Playing football or any other sports looks good to college admission committee because it shows you participate in other activities besides school work. But playing a musical instrument, helping out the community, or any other hobbies you have will also achieve the same effect. So you don’t need to play football if you don’t want to (sounds like you are not too fond of football)

If you don’t want to play football in college, I wonder if this would help. Yes, the admissions people like to see that you’ve taken part in different activities, so in that case, it could be slightly helpful, but they’re certainly not going to offer you a sports scholarship since you don’t want to play football at college and it also sounds like you’re not really into it.

i would normally say yes, especially if your season is good more colleges will take notice of you. but it helping you “get into colege” would be hard if your not planning on playing there.

cuz by them helping would normally mean scholarship which would be taken away if you stopped playing for them, and to get one (unless you get one from usc) you have to be elligable academically by the school anyways

so you might want to stay with focusing on your academics more considering football, especially at the varsity level, takes a lot of time and energy everyday except monday

so you might want to stay with your academics and apply to the colleges you would want to go to that way, or play football, keep the great gpa (colleges love football players with gpas 3.4 or higher, 3.0 and higher is great) and then apply to colleges and send in a highlight take to them as well

playing a high school sport helps because colleges realizes that it takes a lot of dedications and time. but with grades like that i don’t really think colleges would care. but you can still play if you really want to.
