Will my current situation hurt me in the admissions process?

I am starting my grad studies in Education this year. However, I decided to transfer after one semester to a different program. I still want to work with youth but in a different context. So from Education I would like to go into public administration after which I want to work in youth programs that deal with refugees. I am looking at three schools in NYU: 1.SCPS, 2.Wagner or 3.Gallatin. Will it make me look undecided if I choose to switch programs when I’m a grad student? On the other hand, I have worked with refugee youth and have experience so I can honestly say that I am sure that this is what I want to do. It’s not like something I would end up switching from again. I know what I want to do, I just chose a wrong program to get me there.

I strongly advice you to follow what you really want to do.If you want to switch to another program,I think that looking undecided is of far less importance compared to actually reaching your goal. After all, if you don’t switch because you are conscious of others’ impression, then you end up finishing something you have never really fully wanted in the first place…so, follow your heart and don’t let “expected impressions” stop you…good luck!
