Dayam…those are some nice stats. You have a good shot at Harvard and many other great schools. Don’t forget to consider Yale, Princeton, MIT, UPenn, Cornell, Duke, Dartmouth, Caltech, or Stanford. Also don’t forget about interviews. I think you’ll need letters of rec as well…

Your scores and stuff are great, but everyone applying there has the same stuff. Harvard doesn’t just want the smart kids with money anymore. They want the genius kids with a “hook”. A hook can be anything, the more unique the better. A hook is something you excel in outside of school and i’m not talking about your average extra curricular activities. Some examples of hooks: Kid A likes science. Most kids would do their best in science classes and win a couple of science class awards right? But not kid A, he has a hook, not just an interest. This kid is passionate. He has taken every science class his school offers and has gotten A’s. He spends his time voluteering at the local lab. Kid A has won several state awards for his expirements. Kid A has been published in a nationally recognized science journal. Kid B has a different hook. She eats sleeps and breathes hockey. She is genius and got perfect scores on her SAT along with that winning 4.0. In her application her love for hockey jumps off the page in every aspect of her life. She practices for a pre-olympic team 6 days a week for five hours a day. She has won major competitions and is team captain. Her part time job is cleaning the ice with the Zamboni machine and sharpening iceskates. Kid B is passionate about hockey. I definitely think you have a shot but you just have to find that hook because with out it you are just like the 10,000 other kids in that pile of applications. All of the Ivies want kids that are not only intellectually advanced but also extremely accomplished in a passion of theirs whatever it may be. So find your hook and really emphasise it on your application.

You have an ok chance. It’s sort of a crapshoot cuz Harvard gets thousands of applicants with a resume as good as yours.

I do like how you were captain of all those teams and student body president. As well as being an eagle scout (# of community service hours is really low, but you had all those sports to balance it out). Did you guys win any state championships? Cuz there are lots of high schools with bad sports teams and to distinguish yourself from the athletes of those schools, you want to show you won something.

With that GPA, and those SAT scores, I don’t know much about Harvard’s standards, but damn, those are some pretty good scores you’ve got going on. Good luck.

RAWR.
Just so you know, you need a good recommendation; and two interviews – essay must be top notch. =]

I think you have got the academics/activities down; it’s just a matter of the recommendation/interviews/essay.

You have a good chance but they are very selective. It depends on the reputation of your school for one thing.

Harvard admissions committees check to see if you or anyone you know has ever in the past used myspace or yahoo answers. Its the very first screening process.

They won’t even see your application.

Yes, I do think you will get in, and after that, maybe you can even be President.
