Will any of these schools take me ?

I want to know from people who have attended either of these universities if I stand a chance of getting in, the schools are University of Chicago and American University.

-I have 3.4 unweighted, 4.3 weighted g.p.a ( will be about 4.5 by middle of the year )

-I passed all three of my AP tests and taking 4 more AP courses this year.

-960 on SAT ( Only took it once, but taking again soon )

Only problem, hopefully it won’t be, I don’t have any extracurricular activities, exept 40 hours of community service.

The University of Chicago is an extremely competitive university, and American University is moderately competitive. If your GPA is as high as you say, that would be fine, but your SAT is very weak, even if it is only out of 1600; if it is out of 2400, it would be horrible. You definitely need to retake, but with less than 1100 or so (out of 1600), and without any extracurricular activities, you clearly wouldn’t get into the universities you mention.

Nope. Not a chance.

Most Colleges want an unweighted GPA.

and a 960 on the SAT will get you into a nice state college.

From the U of C website

“Of the 1,220 students in the Class of 2008, 78 percent graduated in the top 10 percent of their high school classes. The middle 50 percent of admitted students had either a combined score between 1360 and 1490 on the SAT or a cumulative score of between 28 and 32 on the ACT. To see more detailed statistics on the current incoming class…”

You would really have to wow a school like U of C with a 960, and a 3.4. Get a lot of extra-curricular activities, and retake the SATs asap.

Don’t know much about American University, but I know that the University of Chicago is really competitive. It’s ranked 9th in the nation. I’m sure that an SAT score of 960 is not good enough for either university. Have you studied previously? Assuming you didn’t, try studying this time, see if you can retake it and hopefully do better. You also seem to be somewhat low on the extracurriculars, although they’re not BAD. You’re GPA wouldn’t do for Chicago, but it might be good enough for American University. Try applying to American University. Chicago might be bit of a reach for you, but if you really want to get in, make sure you write a killer essay and have a great interview.

960 on SAT? You mean under 500 on both math and reading? can hardly imagine that’s good enough for University of Chicago; don’t know about American University.

I don’t know what year you are in, but you need to get those SAT scores up and work on our extracurriculars.

this is a private college, and the regulations maximum probably journey the undertaking assertion of the faculty. All institutions have regulations, and no count number if or no longer you compromise with them, you may desire to persist with them. in case you do in comparison to them, I advise you become in contact in student Council or the different style of student government that your college grants.
