they are a standarddized test, they predict grades in the first year of college and they apply no matter where you went to school.

I think they are interested in your SAT scores because every high school teaches different, but the SATs are all the same so they can place you better and know how you compare to other people. If you and your friend are in the same class but different teachers one may get an A and the other a C, but that doesn’t mean it was your fault, your teachers are different so the SATs are a more fair way in seeing how much you really know.

The SATs measure how much you’ve learned in all your schooling, and compare you to the rest of the nation. If you’ve scored higher than 95% of the rest of the nation, obviously more colleges will want you. If many smart people go to one college, the average grade at that college will be higher, making them look like a smarter college.

i have no idea cos they are really only useful for getting into top overpriced colleges. SAT scores in and of themselves are not a very good indicator for college success or even career success…

personal motivation, hard work, talent, passion for what you study/do for a living, and a dash of luck are much more important for your future success, whether your education comes from formal schooling or “school of hard knocks”
