which should i pick???

ok… im in my last year in university. thesis time..

it is groups by 5. and luckilly, ive been in this group where we are five girls. and included in our group is the top student of the batch, plus me who is doing well in academics and another one who is good as well. we can say that we are the best team, although we are all girls.

but there are only 7 girls in our class,so if we were to group as what we have planned, then the 2 girls will be left out, both of them are not so good in school. im close to them as well.

i wanna group with them coz i know that they need me, and they want me as well but they cannot say it to me directly because they know that im already in the “fab 5”.

yesterday i decided to change group and go with them. i know it is going to be hard but i wanna help them out. when i told my mum, she asked me what i am thinking of.

what should i do. im torn between me wanting to help the two and me wanting not to have a hard time doing our thesis.

It’s always a difficult situation when you’re dealing with a struggle between your altruistic side and the side that focuses on the serious academics.

I’ve found that in life, you really need to put yourself first before you can be helpful to other people– not in a selfish way, but in the idea that you should be your top priority.

You sound like a great friend by helping these two women out in this situation, and I hope they acknowledge your graciousness. You really do want to make sure they understand what you’re doing for them and make sure they’re not “mooching” or taking advantage of you because of your intelligence.

Try to engage them as much as possible to help them learn as much as they can from the experience– you want the experience to be meaningful overall.

Good luck!

It is kind of you, but not wise to sacrifice yourself to try to save others who had every opportunity that you and the others had. I don’t know how much experience you have had with teamwork, but often the strongest students end up doing most of the work anyway, and now you are putting yourself into a group where this is almost guaranteed? It is NOT selfish of you to want to work with the stronger students, and this is just too important for you to make the other choice. Your mother is right. Your future depends on this.

You should pick what is comfortable for you.

Your deciding to assist other people reflects a true, gracious human side that not many people have nowadays.

You made the right decision; don’t second-guess yourself.
