Hey, that’s my neck of the woods! I’m orig from SC and went to Clemson Univ.

I actually know people that attend every college you have listed! And I, personally, say that #2 Winthrop is the best out of those listed above. Of course, Clemson is better than them all, but you didnt ask that 🙂

Seriously, though, Morris College isn’t the best option if you want to goto an HBCU. If you want to goto an HBCU in SC (which I’m assuming you want to stay in SC b/c all of the other options are there) I would say look into SC State… or even Claflin. But if you really want to goto an HBCU and you CAN leave SC, try Spelman in ATL.

Columbia College is okay, but check into their accredidations. For some reason, I remember my friend mentioning something about that when she was trying to get into Grad School. Are you planning to stay in SC even after you graduate??

Francis Marion is a pretty good school. I have plenty of friends there, but I don’t think the education is better than Winthrop. I may be wrong, and of course you’re going to do your own research as well…

Out of the choices you offered I say Winthrop is best. In addition to the level of education, the school “atmosphere” and college life would probably be better there too. There’s NOTHING in Sumter & Morris college probably doesnt have a ton of large events (plays, concerts, etc). Same for FMU, Florence is near Columbia…but trust me, I lived in Columbia for many yrs and there’s nothing there either. Winthrop is VERY close to NC and you can always roadtrip to Charlotte area.

Okay..so I realized I wrote a book… so I’m going to stop now. But if you have ANY other questions just email me. I know the ins and outs of college life in the Carolina’s! I just graduated less than 2 yrs ago!!

I’ve never heard of any of the four, but I am convinced that women get a superior education in an all-girl’s college. Research shows that when men are in coed classes, they speak more & get more of the professor’s education than the women students. I’d go for that one!

Where do you live and what do you plan to major in? Do you want to go to school near home? What kind of environment are you looking for? How hard do you want to work?
